1285829 Moulding composition CELANESE CORP 19 Aug 1970 [16 June 1970] 39831/70 Heading C3R A moulding composition comprises an intimate blend of polypropylene terephthalate or polybutylene terephthalate, a reinforcing filler, a Group Vb metal compound and an aromatic halogen compound stable at temperatures needed for melt processing the composition but decomposing in the presence of the metal compound at the combustion temperature of the composition, the weight ratio of halogen to Group Vb metal being between 0À3 : 1 and 4 : 1. Specified Group Vb metal compounds are compounds of antimony, arsenic or bismuth, e.g. the oxides, antimony trioxide being preferred. The halogen compound may be a chlorinated or brominated phthalic anhydride containing at least two chlorine or bromine atoms in the molecule or a compound containing two chlorinated or brominated benzene rings united directly or by a divalent atom or group, many compounds being specified. The reinforcing filler may be glass fibres (chopped or continuous rovings), asbestos fibres, cellulosic fibres, cotton fabric, paper, synthetic fibres and metallic powders. Colourants, plasticizers, stabilizers or hardeners may be added to the composition. |
