Knitted seamless non run hosiery having the appearance of a plain knit fabric consists of successive courses having wales of knitted stitches each formed of two synthetic heat settable yarns, each alternate single course comprising held loop positioned in alternate single wales and being formed of both of said yarns, tuck loops positioned in intervening single wales being formed of one of said yarns and floats positioned in these latter wales being formed of the other of said yarns, each intervening single course comprising held loops positioned in said intervening single wales and formed of both yarns, tuck loops in the alternate single wales being formed of the said one of the yarns, float threads positioned in the alternate single wales being formed of the other yarn. In a fabric described in the Specification each tuck stitch 21 comprises two loops of non torque nylon yarns 23, 24 and one loop of a nylon torque yarn 25. Alternate needle wales, such as F, H, are connected by a floated position of nylon torque yarn as shown at 30. The knitting of the fabric on a single feed machine having six yarn feed fingers and forward hook needles is described.
