Sleeve fixing machine for fibre optic cables - has hinged hexagonal section defining cable cross=section, with securing guide plates

The manually operated machine is for fitting terminal sleeves to fibre-optic cables. The individual fibres are brought into close proximity to provide a maximum fibre density at the sleeve face, suitable for coupling to further cables. The sleeve is fitted within a hinged (3) black, the two parts (1,2) of the block each having a half hexagon groove (4,5) cut in the mating surface defining the final hexagonal cable cross-section when closed. Each part of the block carries a short guide plate (11,12) extending in the calbe axis serving to hold the outer flat surfaces of the sleeve.
