PURPOSE:To achieve the improvement of the tone reproducibility of copied images by providing a light radiating process before tempering to a photoreceptor and changing original-image density characteristics. CONSTITUTION:When light is radiated from a light source 2 to the original 1, the reflected light of the intensity proportional to the original density images on the exposure plane 4 through optical system 3. On the other hand, a photoreceptor 6 is evenly charged by a charger 7. When the original images are radiated in the exposure part 4, the surface potentials of respective parts lower according to the quantity of exposure light owing to the light attenuating characteristics of the photoreceptor 6, thereby forming the electrostatic latent images. These are then developed in a developing part 8 and are fixed to sensible images in a fixing part 9. The light attenuating characteristics of the photoreceptor which has been radiated beforehand with light of high intensity before entering such copying process result in decreased charge saturation surface potentials, thereby decreasing the rate of light attenuation. Hence, arrangement is so made that prior radiation of light is applied to the copying photoreceptor 6 by a sub light source 10 before the copying process is started. Thereby, the tone reproducibility of the copied images may be improved. |
