Security system for plate glass - uses conducting outer mounting strip to provide capacitive sensing detector

An electronic security system for plate glass, suitable for use with display cabinets, uses a capacitive effect to indicate any contact or break. A capacitive field is established on a non-conducting object, such as plate glass, by providing an edging of a conducting material. For sealed edge double plate glass(1) a mounting frame insert(2) of metal is provided. This is set into a wooden frame. Any contact or break causes a change in the capacitive characteristic. A variety of edge mounting strips is considered.
