Weaving loom sley - with control device for oscillation and dwell of the sley during the weaving cycle

The control device for the to and fro movement of the sley comprises elastic elements, such as mechanical hydraulic or pneumatic springs, capable of providing a double action, to maintain a pendulum movement of the sley. The sley is further subjected to a push and pull system, to compensate for the energy lost during each cycle of the sley. Sley movement is normally controlled by cam, or by crankshaft. The simple action cam to no longer is suitable for the demands of modern weaving. 'Conjugated' cams may be used, but the manufacture of such cams demands great precision, and a number of cams may be needed to govern more than one type of sley movement. The control device of the invention avoids these difficulties.
