Measurement of workpiece shape deviations - using reference templates and moving measurement carriage enabling automatic compensation for deviations from straightness

A device measuring shape changes, esp. deviations from straightness of workpieces and machine guides, enables automatic compensation for deviations from straightness to be achieved. Two at least approx. mutually parallel measurement steel rules (6) have profiles (7), identical to those of the test surfaces. The test surfaces form mirror images of each other about a reference line (8). A measurement carriage is guided along both test surfaces simultaneously with one point continuously on the reference line.
