The clamp comprises two sections (1, 2) which have recesses (4, 5, 11, 12) on their adjacent faces in which the conductors are gripped when the clamp is tightened. Each section comprises a pure aluminium core (3) covered with a layer of copper (4), and the require profile is produced by extruding the copper-aluminium combination in one operation. When aluminium conductors have to be jointed the copper layer (4) is removed to leave a bare aluminium recess (8, 9). Extrusion gives a good bond between the two metals and simplifies mfr.
