The belt clasp comprises a frame (11) which is firmly attached to one end (14) of the belt. A tension lever (15) is mounted on the frame (11) and is clamped to one detachable end of the belt. The tension lever (15) has a crossbar (29) parallel to an abutment edge (27) enclosed by loop (28) of the belt resting on the abutment edge (27). The crossbar (29) is movably mounted in relation to the abutment edge (27) so that it presses against a fixed abutment (34) belonging to the tension lever (15) by means of the pressure exerted by the belt's loop (28).
