PURPOSE:To prevent flying of toner by destaticizing both edges of photosensitive drum not opposing to transfer paper and letting the transfer bias be a voltage of the polarity at which toner images are attracted only when the transfer paper exists in the transfer position. CONSTITUTION:When arrangement is so made that both edges of a photosensitive drum 1 not opposing to transfer paper are destaticized with a destaticizing lamp or are prevented from being charged by a corona shield plate 56, latent images are not formed in these regions. On the other hand, when the position of the transfer paper is detected and a changeover switch 26 is changed over via detecting switch 34 and delay circuit 35, bias power sources 27, 28 are changed over and the bias voltage of the polarity at which the toner images are attracted is applied through a bias roller 25 only when the transfer paper is in the transfer position. |
