The machine has an impeller wheel carrying radial blades (1). The root (2) of each blade projects into the interior of the wheel and is connected by a linkage (4) to a disc (3). The disc is carried on the end of a shaft from an electric motor (9) which is mounted on the impeller wheel. When the motor is energised to rotate the disc relatively to the impeller wheel the linkage (4) turns the blades about their own axes to vary the pitch. The electric supply for the motor is taken from a generator driven directly by the rotating machine. |
