The aquarium filter has water circulation effected by compressed air fed continuously into the filter. The filter housing has an intake chamber, a filter material chamber and an outlet chamber. The intake chamber (9) lies below the filter material chamber (10) and the compressed air line opens into the intake chamber. The mouth of the water intake line into the intake chamber is deeper than the mouth (21) of the compressed air feed line (18). The filler material is inserted between two horizontal holed plates (7, 8) and the water intake lines pass through these.
