The safety restraint comprises a padded loop with the ends pivoted at the sides of the vehicle about a transverse horizontal axis and with a profiled section(12, 13) extending across the front of each passenger. The pivot axis is at shoulder height and the loop is swung under the inside of the roof for access to the seats. The loop is simpler to fit than a conventional seat belt and covers both seats, either front or rear. It can be linked to a warning system or to an automatic fitting control. It provides maximum comfort and access to the seats.
