Acceleration of moisture-curing rate of silane-grafted polyolefin(s) - used as cable and wire insulation

Moisture absorption and cross-6inking rate of thermoplastics e.g. olefin (co)polymers, grafted with a silane or silane cpd., are increased by exposure to a mixt. of water and a liq. carrier with better solubility in the thermoplastic. Used in cable and wire insulation, esp. for thicker layers as required for high-voltage high-current cables, and for jacketing of pipes, etc. Time required for cross-6inking is substantially reduced and mechanical strength increased.
