PURPOSE:To obtain composition pellets capable of manufacturing friction materials of good performance readily, by cutting an extruded blend of asbestos and thermosetting resin powder wetted with a solvent. CONSTITUTION:The blend powder 1 of asbestos and a thermosetting resin fed continuously from the hopper 3 is blended by the chamber 4, and wetted with a solvent for the resin having a boiling point of about 50-120 deg.C from the sprays 6, and made loose. The powder 1 is then passed through the orifice 7, chute 8 to the granulating chamber 9, and pressed by a pair of rolls 11 rotating on the rotating disc die 12 with rotational friction, then extruded through the nozzles 12 a downward into cylinders, and cut by the rotary knife cutter 14 suitably to give a pellet-like composition for firiction materials. |
