PURPOSE:To obtain a malonic ester at high conversion, selectivity, and space time yield, by reacting an alkyl monohalogeno-acetate with an alcohol and CO in the presence of a specific organic carboxylate as a basic substance and a cobalt carbonyl catslyst. CONSTITUTION:An alkyl monohalogeno-acetate is reacted with a lower aliphatic alcohol and CO in the presence of a basic substance and a cobalt carbonyl catalyst to give a dialkyl malonate. An alkali and/or alkaline metal salt of a >=4C organic carboxylic acid, e.g. sodium laurate,may be used as the basic substance. |
