NEW MATERIAL:An alkylated hydrquinone carbonate ester having a molecular weight of 342-699 of formula : (R1 and R2 are tert-butyl or tert-amyl groups; A is H or group of formula II; B is group of formula III or IV). EXAMPLE:2,5-Di-tert-butylphenylene-1, 4-bis (phenyl carbonate). USE:Stabilizers for polyolefin, polyvinyl chloride, styrene resins, polyurethane, polyphenylene oxide, etc., particularly polypropylene, capable of effectively preventing the deterioration by oxidation and heat. PROCESS:For example, two moles of an aromatic carbonate are reacted with one mole of an alkylated hydroquinone to give a bis-phenol alkylated hydroquinone biscarbonate ester. |
