<p>PURPOSE:To surely carry out the detection of the lock of a motor and prevent the inability of steering in the captioned power steering in which a steering assisting motor is driven in accordance with the detected value of a steering torque to carry out steering by providing a rotation detector for detecting the rotating position of the motor. CONSTITUTION:In a motor-driven power steering device in which a pinion shaft 3 rotated by the operation of steering handle is engaged with a rack shaft 1, the drive of a steering assisting motor 8 is controlled by a control portion 7 based on the outputs of a torque sensor 6 and a vehicle speed sensor 18. The power of the motor 8 is applied to the pinion shaft 3 via an electromagnetic clutch 16, a planetary-gear reduction gear 9, etc., to carry out power steering. In this case, a rotation detector 17 for detecting the rotating position of the motor 8 is provided on one end of the rotary shaft 80 of the motor 8. The control portion 7 detects the lock of the motor 8 from the detected steering torque and the rotating position of the motor 8 and, at the time of detecting the lock, it disengages an electromagnetic clutch 16 to prevent the inability of steering.</p> |
