A coupling element was held at an elevated temp. by the die wheel. One of the longitudinal edges of the stringer tape(T) was received between the shanks of the coupling element (E) as the latter was gradually released from within the die wheel (10) groove, and while the coupling element was pratialy caught in the groove and therefore still hot, its shanks were fused to the stringer tape(T) under application of heat and pressure.
