PURPOSE:To develop a nonmagnetic steel the permeability of which is not raised even after electron beam welding by adding Ni, Mn, N, etc., to a steel, which stabilize the austenite and lower the permeability together with Cr which lowers the permeability. CONSTITUTION:The nonmagnetic alloy steel contains C<0.15%, Si<1.0%, Mn< 2.0%, Ni; 9-13%, Cr; 10-20%, N<0.05% and sol. Al; 0.03-0.10% or further contains one or more out of Ti; 0.1-0.6%, Nb; 0.2-0.9% and V; 0.1-0.6%. The permeability of the base metal itself is below 1.02 and the ferrite content of the weld zone is below 5% even after electron beam welding. Accordingly, the weld zone has a permeability below 1.20 and superior resistance to high temp. cracking. |
