PURPOSE:To obtain a high-power microwave-band fixed oscillator of high frequency stability, by forming a phase synchronous loop by making a phase comparator detect a phase difference between a crystal-oscillator output and the originating signal of a fixed oscillator element. CONSTITUTION:Gunn diode 2 is mounted on resonance cavity 1 to obtain oscillations of frequency (f0). Signals of frequency (nf1) obtained by multiplying output frequency (f1) of crystal oscillator 3 by (n) by frequency multiplier 4 are supplied to diode 2 by way of circulator 5. Through the self-exciting mixing operation of the Gunn diode, a signal of difference frequency (f3) between (f0) and (nf1) is generated across Gunn diode 2 and this signal is inputted via capacitor 8 to phase comparator 6, where a phase difference with the output signal of oscillator 3 is detected. Difference (DELTAf) between (f3) and (f1) is detected by comparator 6, and a detection voltage of this is applied and superposed upon the output of voltage stabilizer 7, thereby controlling the bias voltage of diode 2. Consequently, a phase synchronous loop is formed with the difference between (f3) and (f1) made zero and a high-power signal with the output frequency synchronized with (n+1)f1 can be obtained. |
