PURPOSE:To efficiently and continuously grind hob-producing teeth fixed into a rotary jig, with a rotary grindstone the grinding surface of which is kept precise by constantly shaping the same with a diamond cutter into the form of a tooth in accordance with the diameter of a pitch circle of the grindstone. CONSTITUTION:A rotary grindstone 13 is rotated and fed until it has come into contact with the hob-producing teeth of semi-processed hob-producing tooth units 10a-10c fixed into the peripheral surface of a rotary jig 12. The rotary jig 12 is then gradually rotated while being moved in the axial direction relative to the rotary grindstone 13, to grind the hob-producing teeth in order. As the diameter of the rotary grindstone 13 is gradually reduced due to friction, the grinding surface thereof is corrected with a diamond cutter 42 moving along a predetermined orbit, while the grindstone 13 is rotated. This allows the rotary grindstone 13 to have such a form of grindind surface constantly that permits the hob-producing teeth to be processed into a predetermined shape. Thus, the hob-producing teeth are ground at a high efficiency. |
