PURPOSE:To obtain high gradient by expressing the gradations by changing the size and concentration of electrostatic latent image, by using a needle recording electrode having an electrode plane not flat with respect to the electrostatic latent image forming surface, and changing the applied voltage. CONSTITUTION:The electrode face of a needle recording electrode 4 is inclined by angle theta with respect to a recording paper 2 to change the voltage Vs to be applied to the needle electrode 4, thereby changing the form (size) of picture element (x). For instance, the applied voltage is changed in three kinds as Vs1<Vs2<Vs3, when the applied voltage is low, the range X1 of change given to the recording paper is narrow and the picture element form is small. When the voltage is increased, the range of charge increases from X1 to X2 and X3 in this order, so that the picture element form grows accordingly. The formed picture element is changed not only in the form due to voltage change, but also in concentration. |
