The tangential expander spring is for oil scraper rings and comprises a hose-type ring bent into a U-shape. The shanks are bent over at the ends to form stop flanges, together with a catch joining the ends together. The catch at the spring ends (1) is formed by teeth cut from the shoulders (6) of the U-section profile, and bent inside the latter for an amt. no less than the initial spring material thickness plus the height of the stop flange (5). Each tooth is enclosed elastically inside the U-shaped profile of the spring, at the ends.
