PURPOSE:To improve cutting performance and lifetime, by providing a plurality of detachable chips with convex scooping surface in such a way that the cutting area of a blade is made continuous. CONSTITUTION:The rear end of body proper 10 is grasped by the main shaft of a machine tool properly, and it is rotated and is subjected to cutting process. Slits are provided at places symmetrical with respect to axis S and in parallel to the radial direction in the region from nearly the center to the end part of body proper 10. Here, flat parts, 11a, 11b, which serve as scrap discharge grooves, are formed. A plurality of chips, 12a, 12b and 12e, are fastened here by means of fastening bolts in such a manner that they can be detached easily. The scooping surface of each chip is made a convex curved surface. The end part of the blade nearly coincides with the center of rotation so that the damage and abrasion of the blade in the neighborhood of the center of rotation are minimized and thus the lifetime of the tool is lengthened. |
