On the inside of the panes (1, 2) is arranged an top hat section (4) having flange parts (4a, 4b) which bear against the edges of the panes via seals (5, 6) along the gap between the panes. A triangular shaped joint cover (7) extends along the gap between the panes on the outside. The cover (7) rests on seals (8, 9) and is anchored by a plate (12) and screw threaded rods (11) whose inner ends pass through the bridge (4c) of section (4) and are secured with washers (14) and lock nuts (13). The joint is tensioned by the rods and nuts.
