By a simple construction of the table, the stability is to be increased, the susceptibility to faults reduced and a greater leg room is to be achieved. The adjustment of the table top is achieved by means of a lever construction (A, E), two profiles (C, G) lying one inside the other being displaceable relative to one another. The table can be secured in the high position by a dead-centre position of the lever construction. <IMAGE>
