The device for use in aquaculture has a rigid enclosure (14) having a wall made of netting or of a grille (15) with fine mesh to retain fish or alevins. The device has at least one permanent buoyancy float (3) and at least one variable buoyancy float (4). This allows the enclosure to selectively float on the surface or be immersed by introducing or evacuating air to or from a float. The grille or net may be arranged on framework supported by a central shaft.
