Hexamethyl-disilazane is prepd. by reacting trimethylchlorosilane with gaseous ammonia, hexamethyl-disilazane being used as solvent. The ammonium chloride formed during the reaction is sepd. from the hexamethyldisilazane by centrifuging. The process provides a partic. efficient means of sepg. the solid ammonium chloride formed from the hexamethyl-disilazane. The yield of hexamethyl-disilazane is considerably higher than that obtd. when sepn. is effected by filtration under pressure.
