The shut-off grid (1) is pivotably arranged above the feed crib (2) and comprises a main grid (5) and a sliding grid (8). In order that the animal can get, with its head, between the grid bars (9) of the main grid (5) to the feed crib (2), there is, at each spot (3) where the livestock stand, an opening (4) which is larger than the opening (4') in the remaining area. The sliding grid (8) has grid bars (9') which are arranged such that they correspond approximately to the grid bars (9) of the main grid (5). The sliding grid (8) is displaceably arranged on the main grid (5) such that the grid bars (9') of the sliding grid (8) can be pushed in front of the larger openings (4) in the main grid (5) in order to form, in the vertical position, either medium-sized openings for securing purposes during milking or small openings for passing through hay in the form of a hay rack. The shut-off grid (1) can, moreover, be pivoted, by means of toggle joints (11), from the approximately vertical position into an oblique position and then serves as a feed rack, the animals being shut out. In order to clean the feed crib (2), the shut-off grid (1) is moved into the vertical position with its openings (4) covered over. <IMAGE>
