The probe (1), whose length corresponds to the height of the tank, contains dry reed contacts spaced along its length, electrically connected through resistors. A float (3) housing an annular magnet (4) is free to move up and down the probe. A battery provides the electrical supply, with voltage regulation suing a Zener diode. The magnet operates the reed contacts. The resultant voltage change, which corresponds to a change in liquid level, in the tank, is detected by electrical circuitry and displayed. A time switch and an acoustic alarm are envisaged. The device is suitable for mobile and fixed installations.
