Stable hole support means in the long wall system comprises hydraulic supports 8, 9 where the cutting machine 1 becomes disposed; at the end of its cutting traverse, between the conveyer 6 and the stable hole cut out SH, each support (with respective bases 8, 9) comprising props 11, 12 and 13, 14 for up-anddown movement, on which are pivoted cantilevers 19, 20 and 28, 29, one at each end thereof, some-19, 20-projecting from one end of prop roof bars 15, 16 over the conveyer 6, the remainder-28, 29-projecting from the other end thereof into the stable hole cut-out SH, the supports having master and slave parts 8, 9 interconnected by a horizontal hydraulic cylinder and ram 10 with fluid control valve means 21 to obtain independent stepwise advances of the parts 8, 9 inwardly of the cut-out SH, and the props 11, 12 and 13, 14, roof bars 15, 16 and cantilevers 20, 28 and 19, 29, to provide a clearing for the "terminal movements of the cutting machine" while continually supporting the associated roof. The supports extend from end to end of the stable hole and the parts or bases 8, 9 are parallel. All the said supports have a minimum uniform spacing, the said cantilevers 19, 20 being interspersed with cantilevers 19, 20 at the goaf side projecting over the conveyer 6 at the stable hole. All these cantilevers are longer than those of similar supports along the goaf side of the conveyer elsewhere. Some goaf side supports register with side packs P through further cantilevers 28.</p> |
