<p>The burner uses either a consumable or a non-consumable electrode, and the handle is fitted with a switch for supplying or stopping the welding current, gas, and possibly the coolant and electrode feeds. The switch can be locked in the 'off' position, due to a sliding element on the push botton used to operate the switch. The pref. switch is a spring-switch with a lever (a) pressed inwards to turn the switch on, but the sliding element (b) can be moved along the push button so the element rests on the burner handle and prevents the switch being moved inwards to the 'on' position. Assembly work can be carried out on the burner, e.g. changing a nozzle, without danger to the operator caused by accidental movement of the switch to the on position.</p> |
