<p>Additive for hydraulic mortar or cement contains a linear, water-soluble polyethylene oxide (I), pref. of mol.wt. over 4 x 106, and A HCHO cpd. (II), pref. a HCHO condensate (IIA). The additive can also contain (active) bentonite, soda and potash. The pref. amts. are 5-20 pts. wt. esp. 6.3% bentonite, 4-16 pts., eps. 5.1% soda, 1-4 pts., esp. 1.25% (IA) 4-20 pts., eps. 5.7% (IIA) and 60-250 pts. esp. 81.65% potash. The additive is used in a dry or wet mortar mix, which is opt. mixed with water opt. and conveyed to the site for use. It increases the viscosity considerably, reducing the danger of the mix running out between joins in the form work. It allows the mix to be conveyed through long stretches of pipe, esp. with cement for spraying or slinging.</p> |
