PURPOSE:To realize a liquid crystal display device which is scarcely influenced by external force and an internal light by forming a recessed part on the surface of a transparent plate opposed to an image area of a liquid crystal panel so that the image area of the liquid crystal panel does not come into contact with the transparent plate. CONSTITUTION:As for a liquid crystal panel provided with a polarization filter 11 on both faces, its periphery is inserted and held by a display window frame 1a of the upper cabinet 1 and a light transmissive window part 2a of the lower cabinet 2 and fixed. Between the liquid crystal panel and the upper cabinet 1, a transparent plate 8 for protection is provided, and in this transparent plate 8, a recessed part 8c is provided on the surface opposed to an image area of the liquid crystal panel, only a non-display part of the liquid crystal panel comes into contact with a panel containing part of the transparent plate 8 and the outside periphery is fixed. A light beam which is made incident from the left side onto a diffusion plate 9 for coming into contact with the light transmissive window frame 2a of the lower cabinet 2 is scattered to uniform light beams and goes into a polarization filter 11 of the liquid crystal panel. A recessed part 8c of the transparent plate 8 is formed to a curved surface, and formed so that stress caused by a contact of the liquid crystal panel and the transparent plate and an interference fringe are not generated. |
