The frame is made from a hollow section having a longitudinal slot on the inside which forms rear cut sections with the inside of the frame (1) wherein on the picture side of the frame (1) at least one inwardly projecting contact arm projects beyond the inside of the frame. The concealed hanging devices for the frame are formed by two angle pieces (9) which can be detachably clamped into the slots, in any adjoining corners. The bearing faces (11) of the corner pieces run on their insides (10) conically from the corner (2) towards the inside of the frame. The conical inner faces can thus be pushed onto the drive-in nails in the wall so that the picture can be straightened up even if the nails are not precisely level.
