<p>In the production of asphalt- aggregate composition in which used asphaltic concrete is recycled there is provided a rotatable drum 10 into which flame and hot gases of combustion are directed by a burner 12, and virgin aggregate 25 is supplied in a hot zone of the drum and is directly exposed to the flame and/or hot gases of combustion. Particles of asphaltic concrete composition 35 are introduced by chute 24 downstream from the hot drum input end, away from direct exposure to the flame and extremely hot gases, in a cooler temperature zone. The constituent materials are mixed together & with asphalt supplied through pipes 14 as the drum rotates and the materials progress longitudinally through the drum to the discharge 24. <IMAGE></p> |
