PURPOSE:To realize the thin film for information recording having good recording and reproducing characteristics, high sensitivity and good stability by specifying the average compsn. in the thickness direction of the thin film for information recording. CONSTITUTION:The average compsn. in the thickness direction of the thin film for information recording is expressed by the formula I. In the formula I, x, y, z, alpha, beta, gamma are respectively of the values ranging 10<=x<=70, 10<=y<=80, 3<=z<=70, 0<=alpha<=60, 0<=beta<=60, 0<=gamma<=30 by atomic %. A is one element among Sn, Bi, Pb, Ga, Au, and In; B is one element among halogen elements such as Tl and I and alkaline metals such as Na; C is one element among Ag, Cu, Pd, and Ta; D is one element exclusive of the elements expressed by Sb, Te, A, B, C.
