<p>An aqs. thermosetting resinous dispersion comprises a non-gelled polymer (I) formed from a polymeric tertiary amine and a 1,2-epoxy containing material (II) of the formula (II). O-CH2-CR1R2 (where R1 is H or CH3, and R2 is M, alkyl, cycloalkyl aryl or subst. alkyl or aryl). The ter. amine is the reaction prod of a polyepoxide of M.wt. >=350 and a sec amine. Its reaction with (II) is conducted in the presence of acid or water to form quat ammonium base gps; (I) contains active hydrogens and quat ammonium base gps. The dispersion contains (I) in combination with a curing agent which is stable in the presence of (I) at room temp. but reacts with the active hydrogens of (I) at elevated temp. to form a crosslinked product.</p> |
