The core for transformers, chokes and similar inductors consists of laminations assembled to form yokes (1) and shanks (2) or shank intermediate parts. The latter abut each other at specified points (1c, 2c) between which is formed a variable magnetic resistance. In the region of the shorter lines of force paths (4) in encountered a higher resistance. The laminations are held together by clamping bolts (7, 8) between which and the outer contours of the core parts, such as shanks, is provided a rail (9). Preferably across the individual laminations (1a, 2a) is formed a weld seam (1b) on a magnetically ineffective zone. The variability of the magnetic resistance may be attained by a varied distance at the abutting points, where an intermediate foil strip (6) may be provided.
