One-phase optical brightener system - esp. for paper-size whitening, contains water, whitener, water-immiscible organic liq. and solubiliser

Optical brightener compsn. consists of a soln. of whitener(s) in a one-phase system contg. (i) water, (ii) organic liq., (I), which boils above 150 degreesC and is incompletely miscible with water, and (iii) a solubiliser (II). The compsns. are used for whitening coatings compsns. for paper, wood, foils, textiles, non-woven fabrics and building materials. The compsns. combine high fastness to light and brightness, and can be used with coatings contg. only synthetic or synthetic and natural binder.
