A parking meter monitoring system fitted onto the parking vehicle. There is a time-scale which is visible from the outside and an indicator which can be set relative to each other. the time-scale and indicator are coupled to a timing device which may be controlled by the ignition switch or the door. The timing mechanism consists of a mechanical timepiece with a storage spring (24). The energy from the spring is transmitted to the control mechanism mechanically such as a Bowden control cable (2). The actuating end of the cable is attached to a plate (4) on the car body.
