Decontamination plant for nuclear fuel element containers - has folding down platform to permit horizontal movement of container

Working and access platform of the decontamination device is cantilevered out towards the (vertical) face of the container and fits closely around this face. This platform is mounted tiltable about a horizontal axis. Pref. the mounting for the platform is adjustable in height throughout the height of the container. It may be infinitely adjustable by means of a spindle. The tilting of the platform form the horizontal position to the vertical position may be effected by a pressurised fluid motor. The platform may also have a folding handrail. By arranging the platform or platforms to tilt out of the working position, it is possible for the fuel element container to be moved horizontally into and out of its position and thus it does not to be lowered from above. Complicated equipment is eliminated and the overall height of the plant if reduced.
