A method for sample analysis in flame photometers, which have an electrical feedback loop to maintain the output of the source 1 constant and in which light absorption and emission measurements are made on zero, standard and sample solutions introduced successively into the flame 2 is characterised by the control, loop being automatically interrupted in response to radiation characteristic of components of the solvent, picked up by auxiliary detector 4b outside the optical path, such that the time of interruption is independent of the height and slope of the measured signal. <IMAGE> |
