PURPOSE:To surely obtain minute and even tape floating in a wide range centering at gap and achieve the improvement of recording-reproducing characteristics by providing the grooves encircling the entire circumference of the magnetic conversion gap in the head floating face of the head. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic conversion gap 9 and a groove 14 such as the one which encircles completely the circumference of the gap 9 are provided near the vertex of the floating face 13 of a magnetic head 12. Part of the air flow entering from end 15 by the rotation in the arrow 10 direction of a rotor 1 escapes from the groove 14a and this decreases the pressure and weakens lubricating effect. As a result, the tape 5 is attracted toward the floating face 13 and makes minute and even floating between the groove 14a sandwiching the vertex. In addition, in the direction nearly at a right angle to the moving direction 10 of the head, the groove 14b is disposed in proximity near the vertex of the floating face 13 and the air flow passing through the groove 14a nearly radially leaks to decrease the pressure, thus the tape 5 floats at a minute and even clearance. |
