The device switches the action of an electro-pneumatic drilling hammer from rotary to percussion drilling or vice-versa. An adjusting socket encloses the tool-holder spindle socket and is lockable in different settings, encompassing locking elements. The adjusting socket has an additional recess for radial deflection of an additional locking member. The member is sited in an aperture at a radial interval from the tool locking elements and corresponds with a depression in the percussion unit so that this is firmly held in the rotary drill socket setting and is released in the percussion drill setting.
