PURPOSE:To perform stable starting of a converter by preventing the reactive power required for the converter at the starting and the reversing of flow from increasing excessively. CONSTITUTION:When starting the first converter 42 at the time point t0 then starting the second converter 41 at the time point t1, the output from the switching drive circuit 28 goes to ''1'' upon the provision of the starting command at the time point t1 to bring the switch 29 into conductive state. Consequently the correction signal for the current command level is produced by the function generator 27 in correspondence with the magnitude of detected DC voltage and applied on the adder 13. Then the second converter is started to increase the reactive power required for the converter thus to drop AC voltage and to drop DC voltage. Consequently the current command level is corrected by the function generator 27 to prevent the reactive power required for the converter from increasing excessively due to the starting of the second converter. |
