PURPOSE:To obtain a display device where the display screen is easy to see and the display area can be used effectively. CONSTITUTION:Character code signal 11a outputted from keyboard 10 is converted to character pattern signal 22 by pattern generator 20, and the character pattern is displayed on plasma display panel 3. This character pattern can be recorgnized visually by an operator and includes feature extraction points. These feature extraction points are read by reader 4 and are temporarily converted to feature code signal 41. This signal 41 is transmitted to CPU 6 after being converted to character code signal 11b by code converter 5, and a prescribed processing is performed. In case that CPU 6 displays the character pattern on panel 3, character code signal 11c is converted to character pattern signal 22 by pattern generator 20 and is displayed as the character pattern on panel 3. Meanwhile, character patterns have feature extraction points, and dots of character patterns are so constituted that these feature extraction points may be peculiar to every character pattern. |
