PURPOSE:To prevent a liquid in a recovery container from being disposed to the outside thereby to improve the working efficiency by sealing an absorptive elastomer acting as applying and wiping means during the operation other than the applying and wiping operations, in which it is protruded from a flaw lacator. CONSTITUTION:A test piece is rinsed while supplying an absorptive elastomer 12 with a rinsing liquid. When the test piece has its surface dried, an air cylinder 8a is advanced so that only the elastomer 12 is protruded out of a flaw locator. Thus, a permeable liquid is applied, and a developing liquid is applied, after the former liquid sufficiently penetrates, to locate a flaw. Incidentally, after those operations are finished, the elastomer 12 has to be rinsed without fail. This rinsing operation is performed by retracting the air cylinder 8a to seal the flaw locator with the elastomer and then by advancing another air cylinder 8b so that a liquid recovery container 21 can be disposed below the elastomer 12. The cylinder 8a is moved back and forth under that condition, while supplying the rinsing liquid, so that the elastomer 12 can be rinsed by means of a squeezing plate 23. |
