NEW MATERIAL:A partially estrified product containing more than one residual OH group in a molecule on the average, and prepared by the reaction of pentaerythritol condensate with a 8-20C saturated branched-chain fatty acid. EXAMPLE:A partially esterified product having an average number of residual OH groups of 4 per molecule, prepared from dipentaerythritol and 2-ethylhexanoic acid. USE:Surface active agent having excellent emulsion stability and high safety to the skin, and suitable for the cosmetic-use. PROCESS:The objective product is prepared by reacting 1 mole of a pentaerythritol condensate (dipentaerythritol, tripentaerythritol, etc.) with 1-7 moles of a 8-20C saturated branched-chain fatty acid in the presence or absence of a catalyst, under atmospheric or reduced pressure. |
